The Automatically Create Form Fields dialog box appears, click OK. I don’t mind a little bit of editing because I open the receipts and highlight totals, etc anyway. PDFpenPro can scan a static form and add interactive fields for you.

How can I make this work with as little input from me? My idea was just scan it and everything goes where it needs to, but that doesn’t seem possible. Questa alternativa a PDFpenPro è utilissima per convertire i PDF in altri formati di file, e consente anche di annotare facilmente i documenti.

To get Hazel to see the text I added in PDF Expert, I have to open the receipt with PDFpen on my Mac, force OCR, and then Hazel sees the text and sorts the receipts as needed. Hazel isn’t recognizing the typed in info though. In related news, Smile has also updated PDFpen for iPad and iPhone (4.99 for a limited time) to version 5.1 with support for iPadOS multitasking (see Here’s What Sets iPadOS Apart from iOS, 25 September 2019).
PDFPENPRO AUTOMATOR UPDATE
Today I figured I would I would try entering a text box on receipts with the store name and date using PDF Expert on iOS, that way everything gets sorted without any more input from me. Smile has released version 11.1.1 of its PDFpen and PDFpenPro apps, a small update that resolves a registration issue when upgrading to macOS 10.15 Catalina. The problem is Scanbot’s OCR on receipts isn’t great, and it doesn’t get readable info 70% of the time (I tried Scanner Pro as well, but the results weren’t any better). Merlin joins me to inaugurate season two of Systematic. He’s a prolific podcaster and man about the internet, and a repeat one might say regular guest on Systematic. This application is not designed to edit PDF files or text files, but it is a reasonably practical viewer that allows you to select and copy the content of these files.

The Hazel rules looks for the store and date printed on the receipt. Today’s guest, and the first guest in what I’ll call season 2 of Systematic, is Merlin Mann. For example, with Automator, you can create an application that extracts the text from a PDF to a text document and later generate a document in Word with it. Then on my Mac I have multiple Hazel rules on the Dropbox folder to sort and rename the files depending on the store. I scan all receipts with Scanbot from an iOS device. If anyone has ideas, I would appreciate input.
